Melissa has found a job she loves and a boss that she’s falling for… hard. Thing is, the job is temporary and she doesn’t want to fall in love. Ever.
[Wednesday night] I went home with a smile on my face, looking forward to the next day at work.
The alcohol was just enough to help me forget about the fact that this was a very temporary position and that I had a date with a terrifyingly lovable man in just two more days.
I woke up Thursday morning with a touch of the blues. That was somewhat unusual for me. I was generally pretty laid back and rarely let things get to me. I kind of blamed it on the alcohol the night before, even though I hadn’t had enough to even come close to being drunk or having a hangover. I brushed off my conscience who seemed pretty damned determined to remind me of a certain man that had haunted my dreams all night.
I made it to work with time to spare and couldn’t seem to keep myself from walking past his office. I had my hand on the doorknob, but then I chickened out at the last minute and kept walking towards my own desk. I heard the door open behind me and my heart immediately started to race.
“Melissa?” His voice shot straight through me and I felt it right between my legs. Dear god, that man was so damn sexy. How did any one person have the right to be that hot? I slowly turned, trying to think of an excuse for stopping by.
I had nothing, “Oh, Mr. Hallaron. Good morning.” I thought I’d just play it off like I hadn’t been coming to see him.
“I thought I told you to call me James.” I shrugged and smiled. “Can you come into my office for a minute?”
I had no reason to say no, so I followed him in. I didn’t say anything until he closed the door and looked at me, waiting for me to say something to explain myself, I suppose. “I… don’t know why I came.”
“Have a seat.” He gestured to one of the two overstuffed chairs in his office and he sat in the other. “Melissa, I really don’t want to pressure you or make you uncomfortable, but I’m really confused. You seemed to want something that went way beyond the typical employee-employer relationship and although it isn’t something I normally do, you definitely got my attention. Hook, line and sinker. I thought it might be fun to go out on a date Friday night, maybe have some fun teasing each other until then… but something’s changed and I don’t know which end is up.”
I sat looking at my hands in my lap, feeling really at a loss. I am not the type who has these conversations, “I’m sorry.” I blurted, meeting his eyes, feeling hopelessly lost in the deep end.
“Nothing to be sorry about, I just wanted to make sure I wasn’t just reading the situation wrong. I can be a bit dense at times, but that kiss the other day. I haven’t been able to stop thinking about it. About you. That’s just not like me.”
“Trust me, I know!” I said, my face turning pink. I clamped my mouth shut before I could say anything else.
“When you first came in my office and did the flirty thing, I mean, I can’t have misunderstood that, right?” He loosened his tie a bit, “I might be slow, but those were some pretty blatant hints!”
I blushed furiously, “I don’t know what I’m doing anymore! You’re not normal!” Why was it that I couldn’t keep my cool around this man? ‘My God,’ I thought, ‘I sound like a freaking teenage girl crushing on the captain of the football team!’
He finally smiled and it lit up his face. I thought I might swoon. “I’m not normal?”
“You know, I mean, you’re not,” I paused, trying to gather my thoughts so I could sound all adult and reasonable. I failed. “You’re not what I expected. Honestly, I just thought when I first saw you that it would be fun to tease you and then have a really hot night out Friday night. I mean, you are really sexy as hell and I wanted to just, I don’t know, go wild. I didn’t expect,” I waved my hand between us, like he could read my thoughts or something, “I didn’t expect THIS thing with you.”
“This thing kind of took me by surprise as well.” He ran his hand through his hair.
All I could do was imagine running my fingers through his hair myself. His body close to mine, his lips on mine, ‘Dear GOD, Melissa!’ My brain shouted at me, “Get yourself together!’ I took a deep breath, “So, what do you want to do? Should we cancel our date for tomorrow?”
“Cancel? Hell no!” He said, “I was thinking of just going out tonight instead. I’m not getting any work done, because all I can think of is you! It’s like you’re haunting me. I swear, I can’t focus at my own desk anymore because all I can do is picture you sitting on it, straddling me with those fucking perfect legs of yours!”
I smiled at the memory and shifted in my seat as a wave of lust flooded through me. He just really wanted me, that was all. I felt much more comfortable in this role. The seductress, the wild weekend one ‘night’ stand. This I could do. I shifted forward in my seat, being sure to give him a glimpse of thighs as I let my skirt ride up as I stood to my feet. I walked over to where he sat, feeling like I was back in control. He was undressing me with his eyes and I knew he wanted me so much that he’d take me right there if I asked him. I smiled.
Reaching down, I rested my hands on the back of his chair, one on each side of his head. I leaned down, forcing him to settle back into the chair a bit. ‘Oh yeah,’ I thought to myself, this was going to be hot. I had my armour back on and I was going to beat him at this game.
I put my mouth almost against his ear, letting my breath blow through the hair that curled so perfectly around it. I heard him suck in a breath. I slid one knee between his legs until I was gently pressing on him as I got just a hair closer and whispered, “I guess you’re going to have to be patient. Friday night,” I licked his ear and he groaned, his hands sliding up under my skirt to grab my ass. “It’s only 36 hours away.” I had intended to pop up to my feet at this moment and sashay my hot little ass out the door, leaving him bewildered and horny as hell.
Unfortunately, his hands on my ass felt a little too nice. I pulled back just enough to see him staring at my mouth and I made the mistake of leaning in for a light kiss.
As soon as our lips touched, I was gone. He brought one hand up to pull my head closer and our mouths couldn’t get close enough. His tongue invaded my mouth, exploring, enticing, making me wet with need.
He groaned into my mouth as his hand slid across my ass, sliding his fingers between my legs, reaching, just barely skimming the edge of my panties. My legs shook, my body throbbed with the wanting of him.
Just then there was a knock on the door.
I’m not sure two people have ever stood up faster in the history of time. I hoped I looked a little less dazed than he did, because he was looking rough and far from business like. I tried to ignore the out of control emotions coursing through me and turned to answer the door for him.
I opened the door with a smile, and there was Sharon. She looked surprised to see me there and then her eyes found James. She was apparently the least observant person in the world or she was just distracted, because she just said a quick hi to me and then rushed over to the boss to explain some big problem she was having. At least I assumed it was a problem. I got myself out of there and headed straight to the restrooms to get myself in order. ‘Dear God,’ I thought, ‘What have I gotten myself into?
